What is a VRF?
A VRF is not a Penalty Charge and you are under no legal obligation to pay. In most cases, it means your vehicle has been locked in a car park, after the advertised closing time.
You can choose whether to leave your vehicle until the car park opening time, or request an officer visit your location and release your vehicle. All VRF payments are via our secure online payment portal.
Do I have to pay?
No, a VRF is not a penalty charge and you are under no legal obligation to pay.
Payment is only required if you wish to have an officer visit your location to release your vehicle.
What happens if I force my way out?
Damage to any property at your location will result in criminal proceedings under the Criminal Damage Act 1971.
Can I call the emergency services?
In most cases, the emergency services will not attend to release your vehicle if you are locked in a car park after the advertised closing hours.
Do you log my vehicle registration when issuing a VRF?
Yes, your vehicle registration is logged if you are issued a VRF.
If you choose not to pay, your vehicle registration details are removed from our database within 24 hours. Exceptions are made if your vehicle is believed to have caused criminal damage at the location.
How do I pay a VRF?
All VRF payments are made via the secure payment portal on this website.
Our officers do not accept cash payments, and do not carry cash while on duty.
If you are approached by an officer requesting a cash payment, please contact the police on 101 (999 in an emergency)
